Course Content
The first part takes into consideration the main theoretical perspectives relating to crime. The second analyses some problematic issues such as the illegal immigration, the trafficking in human beings, the sexual exploitation, and the ambiguous link between immigration and criminality in the Italian social context.

Acquire knowledge to evaluate critically the concepts of deviance, criminality and social control. Acquire knowledge to elaborate social work projects on deprivation and deviance.

Type of Assessment
Oral examination. The first exam in June 2020 will be oral and on line. If some changes happen in the coming months enabling us to use the University buildings, exams could be oral with students.
Course program
The first part of the course is based on an introduction on some principal concepts such as deviance, crime and social control. The second part focuses attention on sociological theories to explain crime. The last considers some issues present in the Italian public debate as the immigration and criminality, the illegal immigration, the trafficking in human beings and the sex exploitation.
